10 reasons why a cast-iron Ferleon cooking pot is an absolute must in your kitchen
The ultimate final dish
That’s what you’re aiming for, right? A dish for everyone to enjoy! Enamelled cast-iron pots provide for optimum heat conduction across the base and sides, making it ideal for any type of dish. With just a single pot, pan or dish you can effortlessly switch to a different heat source, without losing any of the flavour.
Fantastic design and customisable
You’ve got a new kitchen. Or a new cooker, or cooking island. Or, you just fancy a completely new set of cooking pots! Of course, you’ll want it to fully match your personal taste and kitchen design. Functional or rustic; the Ferleon design is so beautiful it slots seamlessly into any type of kitchen. Not only that, you can also select different colours for all product components. You can select a range of lids in different materials, or you can even put together a unique cooking pot of your own choosing.
Your cooking pot can be used in the oven
Oven, steam oven, induction hob, conventional gas ring, wok (ring), teppanyaki… nowadays your ‘cooking station’ is rarely restricted to a single heat source. Start off on your cooking island, and then effortlessly slide the casserole or oven dish into the oven. It couldn’t be easier! All Ferleon pots and oven dishes can be used in the oven, at any temperature. Although, do double-check you’re not using a pot with a wooden lid or handle as, needless to say, this cannot go in the oven!
Long-lasting heat retention and optimum heat distribution
One striking feature of cast-iron is that it absorbs heat easily. This means the pot stays warm for longer at very low temperatures. Making it ideal for leaving a stew to simmer, or for whipping up slow-cooked culinary delights.
Cast-iron craftsmanship is highly specialised, and is a skill that has been passed down the generations at Ferleon, yielding superlative quality as a result. Cast-iron retains its shape very well and absorbs heat easily, making it eminently suitable for preparing casserole dishes. Ferleon pots and pans have enamel at the top and bottom to make them even more durable.
Moreover, as our cast-iron cooking pots and casserole dishes are finished off with enamel, they are very easy to maintain. In essence, enamel comprises a layer of glass that is melted at high temperature. This layer protects the cast-iron against corrosive acids, and therefore corrosion, whilst simultaneously forming a non-hazardous, optimum non-stick coating. This makes the pan easier to clean.
For use indoors and out
Why not use your cooking pot or pan outdoors too? Outdoors is indoors! Some amazing, highly sophisticated outdoor kitchens are cropping up. For these, Ferleon cookware is the ultimate range to finish off the dishes, which you prepared earlier in the kitchen, either outdoors on the BBQ or in the patio stove.
Highly suitable for induction cooking
If you cook with induction, cast-iron cooking pots will be right up your street. When cooking with induction hardly any energy is lost as only the base of the pot is heated via a magnetic field. However, not all cooking pots can be used on induction hobs. But seeing as Ferleon’s cast-iron casserole dishes are all equipped with a deep cast-iron bottom layer, our pots are highly suitable.
When using direct heat sources, such as gas or on the BBQ, most pots will warp, and therefore no longer work efficiently, if at all, on an induction hob. But that’s not the case with cast-iron. If you have used a Ferleon cooking pot on the BBQ, you can simply return this to your induction hob, without any subsequent energy loss.
Ecological and 100% recyclable
Each and every Ferleon cooking pot is truly unique. We pour the iron into sand moulds and the moulding sand is recycled to make new moulds. The materials used to make the casserole dishes can also be fully recycled. Thus making the design 100% cradle-to-cradle.
